About Us
Superhero Cinephiles is a podcast about superheroes in media, founded by two lifelong comic book fans.
Host Emeritus
Derrick Ferguson
Derrick Ferguson was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, which as most right thinking people know is The Center of The Known Universe. After a diverse and somewhat infamous career in the security field working for various employers, he retired early to take care of his health and dedicate the remainder of his life to the one overwhelming passion of his life: the telling of stories that he hoped would entertain and excite those who read them. He previously hosted the Better in the Dark podcast with Thomas Deja and was the author of the Dillon series of novels, in addition to others.
After co-founding and co-hosting Superhero Cinephiles for its first sixty episodes, Derrick passed away on April 4, 2021. He will forever be considered the Host Emeritus of this show.

He’s the author of numerous novels, including the Luther Cross series, and also hosts the Japan On Film podcast in addition to this. He was previously the host of The Exploding Typewriter: Pulp Writers on Writing Pulp and the co-host of The Geek Screen with Juan Bracich.
Currently, he resides in southern Japan where he works as a college instructor of English, literature, and film.
